Overthinking – The Mind’s Endless Loop

Have you ever found yourself stuck in a loop of thoughts, unable to break free? Overthinking is something most of us experience—whether occasionally or all the time. It’s that sneaky mental habit that starts small but quickly snowballs into something bigger, often leaving us drained, anxious, and mentally exhausted. While thinking things through is good, overthinking can be a trap.

Overthinking—do you do it too? Sometimes? Often? How does it feel? Not great, right? I overthink too. Sometimes I just can’t help it. It starts with a simple thought, and before I know it, that one thought links to another, and then another… and suddenly, I’m spiraling in a chain of never-ending “what ifs.” Why do I do it? Honestly, I don’t know.

And trust me, most of the time, all that overthinking turns out to be pointless. It steals my time and peace of mind. The things I imagined rarely ever happen. Later, I realize how much energy I spent worrying about something that never even came true. Sometimes, I even find myself mentally replaying conversations, rewriting dialogues, or preparing for scenarios that never occur. And in the end, all it brings is exhaustion.

Taking a deep breath, grounding ourselves in the present, and letting go of control can help us find peace in the chaos. After all, not every thought deserves our attention. Sometimes, it’s okay to just let things be—and give our minds the break they truly deserve.

How do you feel when you overthink?
