Gift

When we hear the word gift, our minds often jump to wrapped boxes, surprises, and celebrations. Especially for kids, the mere mention of a gift sparks excitement. Whether it’s their birthday, a festival, or any special occasion, the joy of receiving and even giving gifts is unmatched. Watching their faces light up as they unwrap a present is a beautiful sight—pure, unfiltered happiness.

But amidst all the excitement over material gifts, we often forget the most precious gift of all—the gift of life.

Life is a blessing, a priceless gift given to us by the Almighty. Many believe that being born as a human requires an accumulation of good karma, making this life even more special. Yet, how often do we pause to appreciate it? In the rush of daily responsibilities, stress, and struggles, we take life for granted, assuming we have endless tomorrows.

Recently, I experienced a heartbreaking reminder of life’s unpredictability. My cousin’s wife, a young and vibrant woman, was battling an illness. She had been showing signs of recovery, giving everyone hope that she would soon be back home. But fate had other plans. She suddenly fell critically ill, and before she even realized it, her journey to the hospital became a journey to the afterlife. She never returned home. The news of her passing shook our family to the core. It felt unreal—someone who was just with us, full of life, was gone in an instant.

Her death still haunts us, not just because of the loss but because it was a stark reminder of how fragile life truly is.

While some people fight desperately to hold onto life, there are others who choose to end it. It is heartbreaking to think about those who take such drastic steps in a moment of despair. What must be going through their minds at that moment? What pain must they be carrying to believe that life holds nothing for them anymore?

Suicide is a deeply complex issue, and while we may not always understand it, we can at least try to recognize that life is precious, even in its darkest moments. No problem is permanent, and no struggle is worth losing this irreplaceable gift.

Life is fleeting, and none of us know how long we have. That’s why it’s essential to cherish every moment, appreciate the little things, and find joy even in the simplest experiences. Gratitude is key—being thankful for our health, our loved ones, and the ability to experience life itself.

So, let’s celebrate this gift every single day. Let’s express love, be kind, pursue our dreams, and help those who might be struggling. And most importantly, let’s remind ourselves that life, with all its ups and downs, is still a beautiful, irreplaceable gift—one that should never be taken for granted.
