Summer is synonymous with ice cream. While we can enjoy this sweet delight all year round, there’s something special about having an ice cream on a hot summer day. The cool, creamy texture melting in your mouth is pure bliss. My favorite flavor? Pistachio! But beyond just the flavors, ice cream holds a special place in my heart because of the memories associated with it.
During my school days, Friday afternoons were our favorite time of the week. Every Friday, the school sold ice cream— a mix of vanilla and strawberry, one scoop of each. Initially, it cost just ₹1, but by the time I left school, the price had increased to ₹5. We would quickly finish our lunch and rush to stand in the queue, eager to get our hands on that delicious treat. I still remember those moments vividly—so nostalgic! Sometimes, I would buy two, one for my brother as well. Since our house was just a two-minute walk from school, I would put his share in the fridge, and he’d enjoy it after he got home. Having a sibling truly teaches you the joy of sharing.
Fast forward to my college days, and my love for ice cream remained unchanged. However, I always found it difficult to bite into an ice cream. I’m not sure why, but it was something I struggled with. One of my friends once joked that I could never be featured in an ice cream commercial because of this! We laughed about it, but to this day, I still hesitate to take that first bite.
Years later, I experienced another beautiful ice cream moment—this time as a mother. The first time my daughter tasted ice cream, she was around two years old. She took a direct bite, and her expression was priceless! Words can’t do justice to the look on her face, but thankfully, I captured it on video. It’s one of those heartwarming memories I’ll cherish forever.
Ice cream is more than just a dessert; it’s a memory-maker. From childhood traditions to inside jokes with friends and precious moments with loved ones, every scoop tells a story. Do you have any special memories associated with ice cream? I’d love to hear them!
So right, ice cream is such a memory maker. I always loved the sandwich ice cream in my childhood. And recently, I ate that. It was such a satisfying moment.
