Seed Cycling: A Natural Way to Balance Your Hormones

Introduction:

Seed cycling is a natural method used to balance hormones, especially for women with conditions like PCOS (Polycystic Ovary Syndrome). By eating different types of seeds at specific times in your menstrual cycle, you can support hormone regulation and improve menstrual health.

I have PCOS and I have been following this seed cycling method and it’s been beneficial. Do it regularly, and you will see results. If you don’t have a regular 28-day cycle (like mine), adjust the seed cycling accordingly. For example, with a 35-day cycle, consume flax and pumpkin seeds from Day 1 to Day 17. Since I am prone to mouth ulcers from heat-generating foods like sesame seeds, I consume them every other day. I also prefer sesame in the form of black sesame laddus.

How to Use Seed Cycling:

Seed cycling is divided into two phases of your menstrual cycle:

🌸Follicular Phase (Days 1-14):

Flaxseeds and Pumpkin Seeds: Eat 1 tablespoon of ground flaxseeds and 1 tablespoon of ground pumpkin seeds daily. This phase starts on the first day of your period and lasts until ovulation.

🌸Luteal Phase (Days 15-28):

Sesame Seeds and Sunflower Seeds: Eat 1 tablespoon of ground sesame seeds and 1 tablespoon of ground sunflower seeds daily. This phase starts after ovulation and continues until your next period begins.

Benefits of Seed Cycling:

1. Hormone Balance: Helps balance estrogen and progesterone levels.

2. Regular Periods: Can promote regular menstrual cycles.

3. Symptom Relief: May reduce symptoms of hormonal imbalance like acne, fatigue, and mood swings.

4. Nutrient-rich: Provides essential fatty acids, vitamins, and minerals.

People Also Ask:

Q: Do the seeds need to be raw?

A: Yes, it’s best to consume seeds raw to retain their nutritional benefits. Ground seeds are easier to digest and absorb.

Q: Can I start seed cycling at any point in my cycle?

A: Ideally, start at the beginning of your menstrual cycle. If you have irregular periods, you can start at any time and follow a 28-day cycle.

Q: How long does it take to see results?

A: It varies, but many people notice improvements in their symptoms within 3 to 4 months.

Q: Can men use seed cycling?

A: Yes, men can also benefit from the nutrients in these seeds, though the specific cycling may not be necessary.

Q: What if I miss a day?

A: Missing a day occasionally is okay. Just continue with the phase you are in without worrying.

Q: Can the seeds be consumed without grounding?

A: While you can consume the seeds whole, grinding them helps with better digestion and nutrient absorption, especially for flaxseeds.

Seed cycling is a simple, natural way to support hormonal health. Incorporating these seeds into your diet is easy and can offer various health benefits. Give it a try and see how it works for you!
